The King François 1re said Saint Savinien sur Charente was “surrounded by the most beautiful river of the kingdom of France, the Charente River”.  Saint Savinien and its surrounding villages are nestled in the heart of the triangle of the sunflower fields and vineyards between Saintes, Rochefort and Saint-Jean d’Angély. St Savinien Saint Savinien is one  of the most picturesque villages of the “Saintonge”, and a true invitation to relaxation and pleasure only 45 minutes from the beautiful white Atlantic beaches.

Saint Savinien sur Charente :  Has been labeled by the ministry of tourism a village of « Stone and water » as well as «  Small villages with character ».  It has a cinema,  leasure park with minature boats for hire and a lake, miniature golf, tennis, bike hire, boat and canoe rental, outdoor swimming pool, fishing hiking, VTT, minature golf, tennis court,cafés and restaurants.  Anuual wine fair, 1st weekend of August. Supermarkets, bakeries, pharmacy, doctors, nurses, fresh food market on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

The beautiful  the coastal beaches & fabulous costal reserve, “ La Côte Sauvage” only 40 minutes drive also:  Fouras, La Rochelle, Châtelaillon-Plage, Royan, St Georges de Didonne, Ile d’Aix,  Ile d’Oleron and Ile de Ré are all coastal resorts within less than an hour’s drive. Castle Roche Courbon“La Palmyre”, has one of the finest zoos of Europe at the coastal reserve.

 “Fa”, the famous archeological roman ruin port town is found 3 kms outside of Talmont sur Gironde.

There are many “caves” (cellars) where you can sample and buy cognac, pineau (a local aperitif specialty) and the regional wines.

The region is famous for its cognac, oysters, melons, pineau and goat cheeses.
